So frustrated!!!
I called the IRS in December to ask about the back taxes we owed. I asked if it mattered about the divorce, what's in the agreement, etc... The woman was very adamant about the fact that if we owed, I owed and I would have to pay it all. Blah blah blah. I was frustrated but thought, okay, they take what they are owed an I will still get a sizable return to pay A back for my car, pay off the little credit card I was able to get and use for Christmas (and help build my credit with!) and get a couple of things for the house that we need.
So, E filed the same day as me. He's had his return for almost two weeks now.
A filed five days later, she got her return a day after E.
I'm still waiting.
Tomorrow makes 21 days since I filed.
I called today to see what the hold up was.
At first she said she wouldn't check until it's been 21 days. I said, so, I have to call back tomorrow? Tomorrow is 21 days. She decided to look it up after asking me 100 questions to verify my ID.
Apparently there's an issue with my account.
F*ck! I am positive it's about the divorce and him owing half. She won't tell me but she said they mailed a letter and I should have it by March 4, if I don't have it by March 4, I should call them back and they will mail a new one. Then I am to attach the forms needed and fax them back to them. (Probably the divorce agreement.) Then it takes 6 weeks to process it and then, then they will give me my money.
The only thing good about this is I will get a bit more money if they split the debt in half.
I hope this is the end of this, when it is all said and done.
I hope it doesn't take too long to get this all settled.
I am so frustrated.
The only reason she looked it up was because they held my return until June last year. June.
Please don't let that happen again. I can't afford it to. :(
I need a break.
I'd settle for what I'm owed. It won't change the world, but it will help mine a little.
